Seeing to believe and believing to see
Posted March 27, 2009on:
All of us must have heard about the term “Seeing is believing.” This school of thought says that till we see something with our own eyes, then we should not believe it.
Well, how many of us have seen a dead rhino, or an elephant giving birth, or an eagle laying an egg? Yet, we all agree that these things are true.
What about the case of a spectacular show that a friend recommends us to see? Should we see it first to believe? Or do we trust our friend and see the show based on his recommendation. The more cynical amongst is insist that “seeing is believing”, though they too, will believe that eagles lay eggs, and rhinos die.
In business, many decisions are made on the basis of forecasts and projections. Banks insist that we should provide our projections and business plans. Things which are based on the future and currently unseen. Though our present status plays a huge part in lending credibility to our projections, they are still projections.
Recently I read a statement by Encik Idris Jala, the MD of Malaysian Airlines. He quoted a saying from one of his favourite books,
“When we truly want something, the universe conspires to help us achieve it”.
This statement perhaps, sums up the essence of “believing to see”. When we truly want something and truly believe that we can get it, then we “get help” from sources that we cannot see. And we end up getting what we want.
Change ourselves by changing the way we think!
Change ourselves by changing what we believe!
In the Direct Marketing industry, the statement “believe to see” is often repeated. It is a manner of motivating the recruits that they should visualise the successful growth of their respective businesses.
I have a very healthy respect for the “believe to see” approach. I strongly believe that the undertaking that I have embarked upon has all the ingredients of a wildly successful business.
I have to believe! And I have to work hard! Insya’Allah, success should be mine!
In the meantime, to those of you who are interested, I do have an opportunity that may make a lot of business sense to you. It does to me. It’s an exciting business opportunity for Malaysians. It’s a great way to earn part time income, until it overtakes your full time income. Then you can build it into a passive income source.
It’s SCORE A, an online educational portal that now allows everyone to score in their exams!!! Read about some of the characteristics of the product here.
