a) takut ditolak

In 1999, the Smart School Flagship Application was introduced as part of the MSC Blueprint. In order to realign our country’s education system and to make our students lifelong, self-paced and self-directed learners, the Malaysian Smart Schools were introduced. 88 schools were selected to form a nucleus.

The pilot project test-bedded the Smart School Integrated Solution, which comprised the following components:

-Browser-based teaching-learning materials (and related print materials) for Bahasa Melayu, English language, Science and Mathematics;

-Computerised Smart School Management system;

-Smart School technology infrastructure involving the use of IT and non-IT equipment, Local Area Networks for the pilot schools, and a virtual private network that connects the pilot schools; and

-Support services in the form of a centralised Help Desk, and country-wide service centres to provide maintenance and support.

The project ended in December 2002, with the 88 networked schools throughout the country, 1494 courseware titles for Bahasa Melayu, English language, Science, Mathematics, a computerised and integrated Smart School Management System, a Help Desk, and a Data Centre, and trained administrators, teachers and IT coordinators from all the pilot schools.

By 2010, the project is to be extended to all 9000 schools in the country under the Smart School Integrated Solution (SSIS).

Almost everyone will agree that this is an ambitious plan. And most probably this plan might see some hiccups and delays.

However the die has been cast. The whole world is moving towards ICT and for us not to prepare our children for this world would send our country to the dark ages.

Coming back to the practice of preparing our children for life, how many parents are aware of these changes taking place in our school system? And how many are taking proactive steps to prepare their children.

“The SMART School concept calls for browser-based teaching-learning materials (and related print materials) for Bahasa Melayu, English language, Science and Mathematics. No more books. Everything is online. The reference materials, the questions, the answers, the markings and the gradings. “

Well, SCORE A is well ahead of the pack. This is exactly what it provides. A word by word compliance with the definition of the SMART School.

SCORE A provides an excellent opportunity for parents to give their children a head start. Not only in the school exam system, but also in life!

Some put the failure rate at even higher. Then they go on to say that we should never try MLM. What they don’t say is that there are also failures in traditional businesses. The US Bureau of Labour Statistics says that 56% of small businesses fail in the first 4 years.

In his article, 10 reasons why small business fail, Azlan Abu Bakar, a journalist who writes about the World of Malaysian SMEs makes a very important point.

“Even though it is a small business, it IS still a business and you NEED to take time to plan.”

The primary reasons why the failure rate of MLM independent distributors is so high can be attributed to :-

 a)  A Low entry barrier

Almost anyone can be a MLM distributor. Hardly any qualification or filtering criteria is applied. The investment costs are also low, sometimes even laughable. So the quit rate is high, since there is little financial which is at stake.

In traditional businesses, where the level of investment would be higher, there is far greater commitment to try to make the business profitable.

b)  Lack of Knowledge

Many of the distributors go gung ho into the business with little or insufficient knowledge and appreciation of the key success factors of the business. They hope or plan to learn along the way. Lack of knowledge of Networking, prospect identification, marketing, product and compensation plans create the high initial rejection rates. Dejected, many drop off.

c)   Unrealistic Expectations

Many enter the MLM business expecting “000s of RM from week one. A lot of this is due to the heavy overselling of the business opportunity by their sponsors. The business growth does not take place immediately. It takes time to grow and nurture. But very few have the patience and commitment to carry on plodding through the lean times.

Conclusion

In conclusion, failures are everywhere. The fact that there is only one World Cup champion does not stop the countries of the world to try to qualify for the finals. Tremendous efforts and resources are poured into the attempts to win the World Cup.

The same with MLM. It is not just as simple as talking to your friends and expect them to line up to buy or to sign up. We have to get and use the required knowledge, skills, determination, hard work and commitment.

But the rewards can be all worth it!

When I was sitting for my accountancy exams many years ago, the one thing that made all the difference was our group study. Five of us got together and answered as many of the past year questions as we could. We had the problem of not knowing what the correct answers were. So we would answer the questions the best we could and compare answers. Somehow within our group there would be someone who knew what the others did not. So the group gained on the whole.

For our children sitting for their UPSR or PMR, this is also the logical thing to do.

Get them to answer as many past year questions as possible.

For us as parents, the following issues comes up.

Where do we get the questions?

How do we check them to see if our children have answered them correctly?

How do we know if they have answered them within the time allotted?

How do we track their progress?

The online Score A portal resolves all these easily.

They have in their databank, past year questions for PMR and UPSR from 1993 to 2008.

All our child has to do is to:

select PMR or UPSR as the case may be,

         select the year, and

         select the subject.

The questions pop up on the screen with a timer.

As the child answers them, the timer runs and once the allotted time is up, our child has to stop.

 Score A exam paper

Screen Shot of the exam paper.

The results are instantly marked and tallied. We can keep track of this online from anywhere in the world where there is an internet connection.

I think this is a paradigm shift in the manner of assisting students study.

The Sekolah Menengah Ulu Selangor has been implementing this system to help polish their students since 2003. And we should NOT be surprised that this school is a perpetual top scorer!

I have been using Score A with my children since November 08. It has only been about 4 months now, but I am already feeling the difference.

Insya’Allah, my son, with his hard work and practice and by Allah SWT’s Grace should do well in his PMR later this year.

  • terlalu banyak risiko.
  • tidak tahu bagaimana.

Saya boleh menghubungkait hasil kajian ini seperti berikut;

MLM menawarkan jalan keluar.

Many of us have dreams of starting our own businesses. For every 100 people who dream about this perhaps 5 or 10 do anything. Of this 5 or 10, an even smaller percentage may succeed.

(I have written earlier about the 4 main reasons stopping people from starting their own businesses.)

One key fact is that our mindset can accept that there will be a time lag before our business starts making money. Our customers have to be aware of the business. Our sales volume has to grow. We have to invest the time, energy and hard work to make all this happen.

Then why are instant results expected in MLM or Network Marketing?

Part of this may be due to the hard sell tactics adopted by many MLM participants. They make terrific promises about instant riches. In fact, some even promise that the riches would come without doing any work.

As sane adults, we should be able to filter out the unbelievable and the incredible.

We should be able to ask ourselves –

What does a business need to survive and thrive?

– First and foremost there has to be a product or a service that provides value to our customers. Without this, the business will just die off. Tell me, do you think anyone can sell B&W TV sets these days and make a decent living?

– Our business must be located in a place where there is a market. For example, we cannot really hope that a refrigerator company setting up shop in Greenland would prosper. Online businesses, too, need this. The web sites have to be publicised so that the customers become aware.

– Hard work, patience, commitment, and  dedication. This is compulsory.

The resources to make the business get over its start up phase.

The MLM model solve most of the fears associated with people who want to start a business.

What it cannot solve is the unrealistic expectations that people put upon themselves when they start. Yes, there are examples of people who enter into MLM and immediately become a success. But we also have to look at the background of such people. Many of them might have been MLM’ers for years before that.

My advice to those of us who are looking to earn additional income. MLM is a great way to achieve that. Study the opportunity well and see if the product or service meets a current pressing need. And use your own skills to confirm if there is a market. And if the pricing is acceptable.

But make no mistake about the hard work needed!

Be prepared to work hard. Have patience. Know the product well. Know the compensation plan well. Get yourself educated and informed on marketing.

There is no substitute for this.

And sure as the sun rises in the east, you will see and taste success!

When we read the news of the current economic turmoil, a very often blamed issue is leverage.

This kind of leverage is defined as borrowing money to supplement existing funds for investment in such a way that the potential positive or negative outcome is magnified and/or enhanced. There is a dangerous downside and this downside is what is blamed as the principal cause of the present economic tsunami.

However the term leverage was not always treated like this.

The ancient Greek philosopher, Aristotle said that “Give me a lever long enough and a fulcrum on which to place it, and I shall move the world.”

And it is this positive aspect of leverage that MLM businesses thrive on.

MLM, or Network Marketing as we all know works on the principle of Member get Member. There are some rewards that accrue to the uplines as the downlines work on selling and recruiting.

It can be compared to franchising in a way, as the parent company (the upline) gets rewards from the sales of the franchisors (the downlines).

In theory, if the upline manages to recruit committed and dedicated downlines who continue the process of selling and recruiting there is great rewards for the uplines.

And most importantly it is not a case of the uplines just hanging round their houses all day while the downlines work hard and the rewards all accrue to the uplines. The uplines too, have to work hard at keeping the downlines motivated and support them in their sales efforts.

This great wonderful effect of leverage is not found in most other jobs, full time or part time. The tuition teacher gets his /her rewards each time he or she teaches. So does the CEO or the general labourer.

In MLM, however, we can get the benefits of 1% of the efforts of a   100 or 1,000 people, rather than 100% effort of 1 person.

 power of leverage

All these can only work if there is a good product or service to sell. After all this is the basic foundation of any business.

I urge you not to be turned off by all the negative stories that you may have heard about MLM. After all banks have failed before. Fund managers have been proven to be frauds. As in the case of everything, there are good apples and bad apples. So keep an open mind. MLM has many advantages to someone starting out. Explore the opportunities that are presented and if they seem good for you, take them on!
