More Income For Malaysians

Archive for the ‘Additional Income’ Category

When we read the news of the current economic turmoil, a very often blamed issue is leverage.

This kind of leverage is defined as borrowing money to supplement existing funds for investment in such a way that the potential positive or negative outcome is magnified and/or enhanced. There is a dangerous downside and this downside is what is blamed as the principal cause of the present economic tsunami.

However the term leverage was not always treated like this.

The ancient Greek philosopher, Aristotle said that “Give me a lever long enough and a fulcrum on which to place it, and I shall move the world.”

And it is this positive aspect of leverage that MLM businesses thrive on.

MLM, or Network Marketing as we all know works on the principle of Member get Member. There are some rewards that accrue to the uplines as the downlines work on selling and recruiting.

It can be compared to franchising in a way, as the parent company (the upline) gets rewards from the sales of the franchisors (the downlines).

In theory, if the upline manages to recruit committed and dedicated downlines who continue the process of selling and recruiting there is great rewards for the uplines.

And most importantly it is not a case of the uplines just hanging round their houses all day while the downlines work hard and the rewards all accrue to the uplines. The uplines too, have to work hard at keeping the downlines motivated and support them in their sales efforts.

This great wonderful effect of leverage is not found in most other jobs, full time or part time. The tuition teacher gets his /her rewards each time he or she teaches. So does the CEO or the general labourer.

In MLM, however, we can get the benefits of 1% of the efforts of a   100 or 1,000 people, rather than 100% effort of 1 person.

 power of leverage

All these can only work if there is a good product or service to sell. After all this is the basic foundation of any business.

I urge you not to be turned off by all the negative stories that you may have heard about MLM. After all banks have failed before. Fund managers have been proven to be frauds. As in the case of everything, there are good apples and bad apples. So keep an open mind. MLM has many advantages to someone starting out. Explore the opportunities that are presented and if they seem good for you, take them on!

All of us must have heard about the term “Seeing is believing.” This school of thought says that till we see something with our own eyes, then we should not believe it.

Well, how many of us have seen a dead rhino, or an elephant giving birth, or an eagle laying an egg? Yet, we all agree that these things are true.

What about the case of a spectacular show that a friend recommends us to see? Should we see it first to believe? Or do we trust our friend and see the show based on his recommendation. The more cynical amongst is insist that “seeing is believing”, though they too, will believe that eagles lay eggs, and rhinos die.

In business, many decisions are made on the basis of forecasts and projections. Banks insist that we should provide our projections and business plans. Things which are based on the future and currently unseen. Though our present status plays a huge part in lending credibility to our projections, they are still projections.

Recently I read a statement by Encik Idris Jala, the MD of Malaysian Airlines. He quoted a saying from one of his favourite books,

“When we truly want something, the universe conspires to help us achieve it”.

This statement perhaps, sums up the essence of “believing to see”. When we truly want something and truly believe that we can get it, then we “get help” from sources that we cannot see. And we end up getting what we want.

This is also the theory behind the art of mediation and passing messages to our brains when we are in an alpha state.

Change ourselves by changing the way we think!

Change ourselves by changing what we believe!

In the Direct Marketing industry, the statement “believe to see” is often repeated. It is a manner of motivating the recruits that they should visualise the successful growth of their respective businesses.

I have a very healthy respect for the “believe to see” approach. I strongly believe that the undertaking that I have embarked upon has all the ingredients of a wildly successful business.

I have to believe! And I have to work hard! Insya’Allah, success should be mine!

In the meantime, to those of you who are interested, I do have an opportunity that may make a lot of business sense to you. It does to me. It’s an exciting business opportunity for Malaysians. So says, the Mighty Bargain Hunter.

This provocative headline might have irritated many right minded people. But that’s the purpose of provocative headlines, anyway – to attract more people to read the article.

The MBH goes on to say,

“MLM businesses are just that: businesses.  They don’t pay off without a lot of work.  They don’t pay off without a good plan and a good follow-through.  They don’t pay off if you can’t tell the difference between a legitimate one and a pyramid scheme. “

Take your time and read and take note of the key messages in this paragraph.

Many might just pooh pooh off a MLM as a scam, a slimy get rich scheme that benefits others at our expense. It need not be so. It is just a business opportunity that is presented to us. We have to be careful enough to study the case properly so that we don’t get sucked into a pyramid scheme.

And I am sure you are aware that it’s not just MLM preachers who are scamming people. People are getting scammed daily. Just today the NST Online reported a businessman losing USD100,000 to African conmen. And this is despite all that has been written about these kind of scams.

So you have two options,

play it very safe and walk away from every MLMer who ever approaches you, or

use your judgment, look at the opportunity, study the product and the company, study the plan, and then make your decision. And with hard work and commitment, make a respectable income.

We shall look at this Option 2 over the next several posts.

I have nothing against those who play it safe. Good for them. These are probably the people who are conservative in their thinking, people who are convinced that they have no MLM skills, people who are probably more of the “give me a salary, that’s enough for me” kind of mentality.

It may be good to remind ourselves at this stage that many of the outstanding successes that are used as examples by almost every business school were treated as non – starters by a number of “experts” first.

a) The growth of desktop computers in the home

“There is no reason for any individual to have a computer in his home.” as said by Kenneth H. Olson, President of DEC, Convention of the World Future Society, 1977

b) Harry Potter

The first agent to whom J.K. Rowling sent Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone rejected her in little more than a day. Her second agent, Christopher Little, was turned down by 12 publishers before Bloomsbury said yes a year later.

c) The Beatles

In January 1962, The Beatles were turned down by Decca Records because they were considered too similar to the Shadows. They signed with Parlophone and became the world’s most famous band.

To those people out there who want to increase their income, and find obstacles blocking them, I suggest that they consider MLM. It’s one way to get the full benefits of having our own business, whilst eliminating many of the problems. Hard work and commitment is still a must, there is no way to get around that. And do your homework well first.

In the meantime, to those of you who are interested, I do have one opportunity that may make a lot of business sense. It does to me. It’s a business opportunity for all Malaysians. It’s a way to earn passive income for Malaysians or a way to earn part time income for Malaysians. Read about some of the characteristics of the product here.

We can perhaps divide the world’s population into 3 clear groups. The workers or employees, the employers and the others who come from the more impoverished countries, unable to find or to provide jobs. Given that most employers have more than one worker, the 1st group must be a very significant group.

Yet a large majority of employees yearn to do their own business.

I read an interesting article by Leonard Clements, where he quoted a survey done in 1991 with the simple question, “If all obstacles were removed, would you like to own your business”. 85% said yes. (I would have said “yes” immediately too.)

Going deeper to find out why this 85% were not starting their own businesses, it was realised that :-

“it was never about preferring to work for someone else’s

business, but rather because of the fear of starting your own.”

And the 4 fears highest on the list were :-

– It takes too much money.

– It takes too much time.

– There’s too much risk.

– They didn’t know how.

I can totally relate to the results of this survey.

We prefer to continue working at our jobs with the safety of the paycheck and then complain about not having freedom and independence, rather than taking a leap into the unknown. Fear keeps us back.

Well, MLM offers a way out. It allows us an opportunity to fully explore our entrepreneurial spirit in a manner that avoids the 4 biggest fears that we have.

MLM has a low cost of entry. It’s unlike traditional businesses which may need space, workers or other administrative support and associated costs.

MLM has a powerful leveraging system. If used well and correctly, the downline should expand giving us income from other people’s time and  effort.

MLM comes with a support system that takes care of our “lack of know how” till we get the experience and find our own bearings.

MLM can be done within whatever time limits we set ourselves. We and we alone decide on the time to spend on the business. Just like anything else, the less time we spend, especially at the beginning start up stage, the less are the rewards.

MLM can be done whilst still maintaining our main job. So we don’t have to take the risk of cutting loose before the MLM income reaches our employment income.

With all these advantages, then why is MLM so looked down upon? There are some reasons which we shall study in our next post.

In the meantime, to those of you who are interested, I do have one opportunity that may make a lot of business sense. It does to me. Email me at with your name, town, hp number and the best time for me to call you.

Passive income has been defined as income that you earn after making some “one time” effort, but much less effort is required to maintain it.

Examples may be portfolio income, which are interest and dividends earned from investments in stocks and bonds. Others may be rental income from property, royalties from publishing books or from music recordings, etc.

Another good example is a salesperson’s income from commissions on sales. This is often called residual income. Examples may be insurance commissions from premiums paid by the insured, which accrue to the agent for a number of years.

There is no such thing as effortless income. Effort, commitment, hard work and dedication are all prerequisites. You may notice that none of these requirements require any special skill or capital.

For most ordinary Malaysians, adequate capital is a setback. Many Malaysians may also not have the skills, knowledge and creativity needed to publish a book or to write commercially acceptable music.

One powerful method for the ordinary Malaysian to earn passive income is MLM, or multi level marketing. Though there may be some objections to this system, none will be able to dispute the power of MLM or Direct Selling as it is sometimes known.

“I think network marketing is the best system for the average person, yes. I say again, if in the corporate world you don’t sell within the first months, you’re fired. In network marketing they’ll work with you to achieve. What a deal that is! They will work with you to become free. Isn’t that wonderful? That’s revolutionary.”
                                                                   – Robert Kiyosaki, author Rich Dad Poor Dad

For any business to be sustainable and successful, it must first fill a need. The business must have a product or service that meets a compelling need in society. MLM is merely the distribution channel, though it is one of the most powerful distribution channels devised by man.

So to my fellow Malaysians who lack capital and are looking for ways and means to earn additional, part time or passive income, I would honestly and enthusiastically recommend MLM.

And first of all, for them to check and ensure that the product or service meets a compelling need in Malaysian society.

We do have such a product. A product that meets a screaming need of almost every Malaysian parent with school going children from Standard 1 – Form 3.

This opportunity is available to everyone no matter where they are in Malaysia. Be it, Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, Sabah, Sarawak, Perak or Johor or any other State in Malaysia.

The question is really this. Are you ready to take this opportunity?

Are you willing to invest the effort, hard work, commitment and dedication to take the plunge and build a river of passive income flowing into your bank accounts?

If your answer is yes, please email me with your details (Name, Town, HP Number, Best time for me to call you) to
